Privacy policy

PredictWithUs (“we,” “us”) helps organizations turn their updates into prediction games their communities actually play. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We've tried to keep it plain.

Who this applies to

  • Organizations that create and run games on PredictWithUs, and the people who manage them (“Organizers”).
  • Players who pay to make predictions in those games.
  • Visitors to predictwithus.com and to games embedded on other websites.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: name, email address, and, if you sign in with Google, your Google profile name, email, and profile picture.
  • Organization details: organization name, website, contact information, and anything you share during our verification process.
  • Game content: the games, questions, resolutions, explanations, and calls to action Organizers create.
  • Predictions: the answers Players submit, along with when they were submitted.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email or through the site.
  • Payments: when you pay an entry fee, a One-Time Fee or a Membership, our payment processor collects your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your name, email, the amount, and whether the payment succeeded. If you choose to save a card, our payment processor stores it, and we can only see its brand, last four digits, and expiry date.
  • Payout and tax details: to pay Organizers, we collect a completed IRS Form W-9, which includes a tax ID, along with bank account details or a mailing address.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic device and usage data (browser type, pages viewed, approximate location from IP address, referring page).
  • Product analytics on our website, the game builder, and organizer pages: how people move through them, and for some visits a recording of clicks and scrolling with anything typed into forms hidden. We use Vercel Analytics and PostHog for this. Game pages that Players use aren't recorded this way.
  • Cookies needed to keep you signed in and to make the site work. We don't use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

How we use it

  • To run games: record predictions, score them, show leaderboards, and notify you of results.
  • To create and manage your account, including creating an account automatically when you first submit a prediction.
  • To take entry fees, issue refunds, pay Organizers, and meet our tax reporting duties, such as Form 1099.
  • To verify organizations before they can publish games.
  • To send emails about your games and account. Organizers may also use the platform to send you calls to action tied to their game (like an RSVP or volunteer sign-up).
  • To power AI features, such as helping Organizers turn an announcement into game questions.
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
  • To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

  • The Organization running your game. When you play, that organization can see your name, email, predictions, and results. Their use of your information is governed by their own policies. If you win a prize, we'll introduce you to the organizer by email.
  • Other players and the public. Your display name and score appear on a game's leaderboard, which other players can see. Every game is public: its name, description, questions, and prizes can appear on PredictWithUs and in search results.
  • Service providers who help us run PredictWithUs, under contracts that limit their use of your data: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Google (sign-in), Anthropic (AI features), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), and PostHog (product analytics).
  • Tax authorities, such as the IRS, where the law requires us to report payments.
  • Legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
  • A successor, if PredictWithUs is ever acquired or merged, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

Google user data

If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this solely to create and sign in to your PredictWithUs account. We do not access your Gmail, contacts, Drive, or any other Google data.

PredictWithUs's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

How long we keep it

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Game and prediction records are kept so Organizers can see past results. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law. That includes payment, payout, and tax records, which we keep for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your choices and rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your information by emailing privacy@predictwithus.com.
  • Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email.
  • Disconnect Google at any time from your Google Account settings.
  • California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • If you're in the EU or UK, you also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to data portability. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the service, and your consent where we ask for it.

We'll respond within 30 days.

Children

PredictWithUs is for adults: you must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to use it. A parent or guardian can enter a game for a child in their care, using their own account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, except a name an Organizer or parent chooses to include. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will notify you if a breach affects you as required by law.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and notify account holders by email before they take effect.
